We have enjoyed the journey with the Gosman family from their restaurant’s early days of awning-covered picnic tables and a concrete block kitchen overlooking Montauk Harbor to the sprawling destination complex that it is today.
In developing Gosman’s Dock, Morpurgo Architects extended the restaurant over the water, opening the three ocean-side walls to sea breezes. In an inventive design, garage doors descend from the roof and form all of the exterior walls in inclement weather.
The bleached wood, white trim and blue-gray shutters of the clam bar with a roof deck, shops, specialty stores, cafe and band shell carry out a nautical theme. The complex has many panoramic lookouts for viewing the magnificent harbor and ocean inlet. Its unique setting and amenities have made Gosman’s Dock the gateway to the Montauk marinas.
