The renowned Hermitage, listed on the State and National Registers of Historic Places, is a National Historic Landmark. This outstanding Gothic Revival home, built in 1847, is located on five picturesque acres.
Soon after starting our firm, Morpurgo Architects was commissioned to produce an architectural survey of The Hermitage, identify the deteriorating conditions and recommend solutions required to save the structure. Based on our comprehensive report and detailed analysis, initial funding sources were sought that over a period of decades have preserved The Hermitage and its significant collections as an educational resource.
Our services for The Hermitage site included the renovation of the 1892 Shingle Style Rosencrantz House to accommodate an information center, galleries, offices and craft workshops.
