While maintaining the character of this century old historic house, Morpurgo Architects’ successful Transformation turned this 1850 colonial structure in disrepair into a vibrant modern farmhouse, infused with elegant simplicity.
To accommodate the Owners’ desire to open up the main living areas, we carefully moved the main bearing wall and reconfigured all the first floor interior spaces. We rehabilitated portions of the existing kitchen cabinetry and recreated new units to match the original.
Our restoration uncovered damage to the 2nd floor structure, posing a challenge that we responded to by replacing major portions of the roof and second floor.
In this significant renovation, our firm added a front porch, thoughtfully designed to complement the entire façade and preserve our treasured past.
